Privacy Policy
Last updated: 16 August 2026
This policy explains exactly what data sibordating.com collects, why it exists, and how to get it removed. It is written to be read, not to be skipped.
The short version
There are no accounts, no advertising, no tracking cookies and nothing is sold to anyone. The only personal data the site handles routinely is your IP address, which is used to stop one person from voting on the same photo a hundred times and to keep spam out of the submission forms.
If you appear in one of the photos and want it gone, use the Report button on that photo or email us. It will be removed.
Who runs this site
Siblings or Dating? is an independent, non-commercial project operated at sibordating.com. For any privacy question, or to exercise any of the rights described below, contact sibordating@protonmail.com.
What we collect and why
The site collects the following, and nothing else:
- Your IP address, whenever you vote, report a photo, submit a photo or send a contact message. It is used to record that a given photo has already been voted on from your connection, and to enforce rate limits that keep automated spam out. It is never shown publicly.
- The content of any message you choose to send through the report or contact form.
- Your email address, only if you type one into the contact form. That field is optional and the form works without it.
- The image link and category you choose when submitting a photo.
- Aggregate vote counts per photo. These are plain numbers, not linked to any individual, and they are what the coloured bar under each photo displays.
What we never collect
No names, no accounts, no passwords, no payment details, no phone numbers, no location beyond what an IP address implies, and no advertising or cross-site tracking identifiers. Your personal data is not sold, rented or traded, and it is not used to build a profile of you.
Data stored in your browser
The site uses no tracking cookies. It stores two small values on your own device, and neither is transmitted to us:
- Your current score, kept in session storage. It survives a page refresh and is erased when you close the tab.
- Your chosen language, kept in local storage, so the site opens in the same language next time.
Analytics
Visitor statistics come from Simple Analytics, a privacy-focused analytics service that sets no cookies, collects no personal data and does not track visitors across websites. It reports only aggregate figures such as page views and referring sites. The script is configured to respect the Do Not Track setting in your browser.
Legal bases for processing
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, the site relies on the following legal bases:
- Legitimate interest, for processing IP addresses to prevent duplicate voting, block spam and keep the service available. The interest is keeping the vote statistics meaningful and the site online; the impact on you is minimal because the address is never published or used to identify you.
- Consent, for anything you voluntarily type into the contact or report form, including an email address. You give it by sending the message and can withdraw it at any time by asking us to delete it.
How long data is kept
Vote records are kept for as long as the photo they refer to stays in rotation, because they are what prevents the same person voting twice on it. Rate-limiting records expire within hours and are overwritten automatically.
Reports and contact messages are kept only while they are being dealt with and are deleted once the matter is closed. Photo submissions are kept until they are either accepted into the rotation or rejected.
Aggregate vote counts are kept indefinitely, but they contain no personal data.
Who the data is shared with
The site runs on Cloudflare, which provides hosting, the database and protection against attacks. Cloudflare processes requests on our behalf and keeps its own short-term security logs. Simple Analytics processes aggregate visit statistics.
Reports, contact messages and photo submissions are also forwarded to a private Discord channel, so that they are seen and acted on quickly instead of sitting unread in a database. Only the text you wrote is forwarded, along with which photo a report concerns. Your IP address is never sent to Discord; it stays in the database. No other party receives any data.
Because both providers operate global networks, data may be processed on servers outside your own country, including outside the European Economic Area, under the transfer safeguards those providers have in place.
Data may also be disclosed if we are legally required to do so, for example in response to a valid legal order.
If you appear in a photo
The photos in this game come from publicly accessible sources. If you are one of the people shown and you would rather not be, you do not have to justify the request and you do not need to prove anything elaborate.
Use the Report button in the top right corner of the photo, or email sibordating@protonmail.com describing which photo it is. The photo will be taken out of rotation and deleted. Please include enough detail to identify the right image, for example the moment it appeared or a description of it.
The same applies if a photo is labelled incorrectly, or if you believe it should not be published for any other reason.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to the personal data held about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its processing, and to receive a copy in a portable format. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.
To exercise any of these, email sibordating@protonmail.com. Because the site holds no accounts, the practical way to locate your data is by IP address or by the message you sent, so please include whatever detail you can. Requests are answered without undue delay and in any case within one month.
Children
This site is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has sent us a message or that a photo shows a child who should not be featured, contact us and it will be deleted.
Security
All traffic is served over HTTPS. Submitted data is stored in a database that is not publicly reachable, and the forms are rate limited. No system is perfectly secure, but the amount of personal data held here is deliberately kept as small as possible, which is the strongest protection available.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. Material changes will be noted on the page rather than made quietly.
